“War” was a song made famous by Edwin Starr in 1969. History shows us that most wars are a result of politics, economies, social injustice, and a side serving of religion. In today’s world it appears a “gut feeling” is the only criteria needed to declare war.
It is well to note Middle Eastern countries have been at war with each other for centuries. What is the reasoning for prime ministers, rulers, or a president to think now is the time to change the annals of history? It was my understanding George Bush declared war on the Middle East after 9-11. His mission was to eliminate the Taliban. The war started in 2001 and ended in 2021. What is ironic after all the lives lost, countires reduced to rubble, and billions of dollars wasted , guess which party is now in control of Afghanistan–the Taliban. Iran has supported terrorism for decades, but remember the terriorist at 9-11 came from Pakistan.
Why on God’s green earth would any power decide now is the perfect time to alter history? To name afew, greed, with a dash of power hunger, a side order of personal vendettas, and a major course of feeding one’s egotistical personality. It was my understanding Operation Midnight Hammer (the initial bombing of Iran) decimated Iran’s enriched uranium for ten years. I guess time flies when you are at war.
I am reminded of a quote that seems befitting for our current issues in Iran. “It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the amount of fight in the dog”. God bless our military and those brave souls that gave the ultimate sacrifice for a questionable cause for a “gut feeling”.
Be safe.
