” IS WAS THERE ALL THE TIME”

Recently I was sitting in our converted study which for many years served as my office. The oversized green leather chair and reading lamp has been my security blanket for years when I needed ” the power of positive thinking”. Simply stated, I was searching for subject matter for my blog.

As I canvassed my surroundings my eyes stopped on an embroidered picture of “Pee Dee” the East Carolina mascot given to me by my oldest daughter in 1989. A few seconds later my eyes stopped on an Eagle Scout project my grandson completed in 2021′, given to me by my middle daughter. And what to my wondering eyes should appear? Leaning in the corner was a special putter given to me by my son in 2010′. Above the putter is a signed picture by Robert S. Simon of baseball hall of famers Lou Gehrig and Cal Ripken, Jr. I won the picture in a raffle at a charity golf outing in 2011′ with my granddaughter and son-in-law.

It would be remiss of me not to mention my wife’s antique oak ice chest sitting in the corner adorned with an array of family pictures. The pictures hold many memories , almost too many to mention……almost. A reminder to my family, a picture is worth a thousand words. WOW, do I have leverage or what.

The monetary value of these items is immaterial. The real value is in the back stories each piece brings. Yes, sometimes it is difficult to see the forest for the trees, but in this instance, ” It was there all the time”.

Be safe.
